Darton Sleeves
45 Years of Cylinder Sleeve Excellence
Darton International was incorporated in 1978 with a clear ambition: to become a premier manufacturer of automotive performance engine components. From their earliest days supplying Milodon Engineering and Keith Black Racing Engines, Darton pioneered the manufacture of high-quality centrifugally cast ductile iron cylinder sleeves, becoming the first supplier to meet SAE and ASTM rigid quality control standards while applying their own unique chemistry and pouring process, including shot peening for stress relief. Based in Carlsbad, California, and supported by a world-renowned foundry in Portugal, part of a 100-year-old manufacturing group specialising in cylinder sleeves, piston rings, and iron castings, Darton controls the quality of their product from raw material through to finished component.
The OEM and Racing Industry's First Choice
Darton's reputation extends well beyond the performance aftermarket. They are the prime cylinder sleeve supplier for Ford SVO, Chrysler Hemi, and GM LS series performance engines, and are the preferred sleeve supplier for most professional NHRA racing teams. This dual position, trusted by both OEM performance divisions and the most competitive professional drag racing outfits in North America, reflects a product that meets the highest standards across both production and competition environments. All raw material, regardless of source, is produced to Darton's own exacting chemical specifications.
Innovation That Continues to Advance the Category
Darton's commitment to development has produced proprietary technologies that have redefined what a cylinder sleeve can do. Their MID™ (Modular Integrated Deck) sleeve system and Seal Tight™ technology represent genuine engineering breakthroughs, addressing the structural and sealing demands of high-boost, high-output performance engines. For engine builders who understand the critical role the cylinder sleeve plays in overall engine integrity, particularly in forced induction and high-stress race applications, Darton remains the most trusted and technically advanced specialist in the field.
