Quaife ATB® Limited Slip Differential
The Upgrade That Redefined Traction
Introduced in the 1980s and refined ever since, the Quaife ATB® (Automatic Torque Biasing) differential has become the most trusted and widely adopted limited slip differential upgrade in the performance car world. A direct replacement for the factory open differential, it is available for over 500 applications across front, rear, and four-wheel-drive platforms, and with over 200,000 units sold worldwide, its reputation speaks for itself.
How It Works
The ATB® automatically biases torque across the driven axle toward the wheel with the most grip, reducing wheelspin, minimising understeer on FWD and 4WD cars, and making rear-wheel-drive oversteer moments more controlled and exploitable. On front-wheel-drive cars it also delivers a measurable braking benefit, transferring torque away from a locking wheel to delay ABS intrusion and allow later, deeper braking. Independent back-to-back testing on a RenaultSport Clio 200 demonstrated over two seconds of lap time improvement on a short circuit, a remarkable result for a single drivetrain upgrade.

Fit and Forget, for Life
Unlike conventional plate-style LSD units, the Quaife ATB® uses a precision system of helical gears with no clutches, ramps, springs, or wear-prone components to service or replace. It operates silently, including during low-speed manoeuvres, and is fully compatible with factory electronic traction control and ABS systems. It uses standard transmission oil, retains the factory lubrication schedule, and is backed by a Quaife lifetime warranty for both road and motorsport use.
Trusted by OEMs and Racers Alike
Ford, BMW, GM, Lotus, and Chrysler have all specified the Quaife ATB® as original equipment on high-performance models — including all three generations of the Ford Focus RS, the Lotus Evora 400, and the 2018 Ford Fiesta ST. On track, it has proven itself across rallying, circuit racing, rallycross, sprinting, and Time Attack worldwide. Manufactured in Kent, England from certified steel billets to ISO 9001 standards using 5-axis CNC machining and tri-coordinate measuring equipment, every unit is precision-made and quality-inspected before it leaves the factory.
