MAHLE Motorsport

A Century of Powertrain Innovation

Founded in 1920 and headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, MAHLE has grown into one of the world's most significant automotive component suppliers, with 11.3 billion euros in annual sales, 64,000+ employees, 127 production locations, and 11 dedicated R&D centres worldwide. Their scale and reach are best illustrated by one figure: one in every two vehicles globally is equipped with MAHLE components. From pistons and engine systems through to thermal management and electrification technology, MAHLE has spent over a century engineering the components that keep the world's engines running.

Piston Engineering at the Highest Level

MAHLE piston systems are developed to operate at the extreme limits of modern engine design. Their gasoline pistons address the increasing thermal loads and inertia forces that come with today's downsized, high-output engine concepts, while their diesel pistons are engineered to withstand injection pressures of up to 2,200 bar and peak cylinder pressures of 210 bar. Forged aluminium pistons, offering greater strength and thinner walls for reduced weight, are supplied as standard to high-performance series production vehicles, and steel piston variants are available for the most demanding diesel applications. MAHLE's Power Cell Unit concept takes integration further still, combining piston, rings, pin, cylinder liner, and connecting rod into a single optimally coordinated system.

Motorsport Knowledge, Production Standards

MAHLE's involvement in motorsport has directly shaped the technology found in their aftermarket and OEM piston range. The same engineering expertise applied to race engines feeds into the precision, material quality, and thermal management of every production piston they manufacture. For engine builders and performance enthusiasts, choosing MAHLE means specifying a component backed by the depth of a global OEM supplier, one whose pistons are found in half the vehicles on the road, and whose engineering continues to define what is possible inside a combustion engine.
