TEIN RX1

Ride Height and Damping Adjustment

RX1 uses a full length ride height adjustment system, so the case length can be changed without affecting damper stroke or spring preload, keeping the impact on ride quality to a minimum. Damping force is adjustable across 16 levels for compression and rebound together, and the kit is also compatible with TEIN's EDFC range, including EDFC5 and EDFC Active Pro, for electronic damping force adjustment from the driver's seat. On strut type suspensions, the lower bracket allows camber angle adjustment by rotating an eccentric washer 180 degrees, useful even where the upper mount itself has no camber adjustment.

Contents and Service

Each RX1 kit includes an upper mount designed specifically for the vehicle, either a reinforced rubber mount or a pillow ball mount with camber adjustment, with some models using OE mounts where no mount plate is available. Included springs are cold formed from SAE9254 steel with a minimum tensile strength of 200 kgf per square millimeter, and are powder coated to resist sagging and corrosion over time. Rather than a standard overhaul, TEIN offers a replacement service, where the shock absorber body is replaced without needing to return the original unit, and revalving is also available for damping force or stroke modification on request.

Construction and Ride Comfort

RX1 uses a twin tube damper structure for longer stroke and a smaller repulsive force than a mono tube design, giving a comfortable ride across varied road surfaces. It also features TEIN's Hydraulic Bump Stopper, which converts the impact of a full stroke into heat rather than letting it escape as a repulsive force, keeping the vehicle stable and reducing wear on the damper, useful even in a fully loaded minivan. The shell case is finished with TEIN's green powder coating, patented 2 layer, 1 bake anti rust treatment, and ZTP surface coating for protection against stone chips and corrosion. Conventional bump rubbers must still be fitted alongside the H.B.S. system to avoid damage.
