TEIN Flex AVS
AVS Compatibility and Ride Height Adjustment
FLEX AVS is designed for Toyota and Lexus models fitted with Adaptive Variable Suspension, allowing ride height to be adjusted without deactivating the AVS system, which normally has to be switched off when non OE suspension is fitted. A newly designed AVS Needle gives a broader damping force range within the operating angle of the AVS actuator, though damping force is controlled electronically by the vehicle and cannot be adjusted manually. Ride height adjustment uses TEIN's full length system, so the case length can be changed without affecting damper stroke or spring preload, keeping the impact on ride quality to a minimum.

Kit Contents and Service
Each FLEX AVS kit includes an upper mount designed specifically for the vehicle, either a reinforced rubber or pillow ball type. Included springs are cold formed from SAE9254 steel with a minimum tensile strength of 200 kgf per square millimeter, and are powder coated to resist sagging and corrosion over time. Due to its sealed construction, TEIN offers a replacement service rather than a standard overhaul, where the shock absorber body is replaced without needing to return the original unit, with revalving also available for damping force or stroke modification on request.

Construction and Ride Comfort
FLEX AVS uses a twin tube damper structure for longer stroke and a smaller repulsive force than a mono tube design, giving a comfortable ride across varied road surfaces. It also features TEIN's Hydraulic Bump Stopper, which converts the impact of a full stroke into heat rather than letting it escape as a repulsive force, improving comfort and durability at maximum passenger and cargo load. The shell case is finished with TEIN's green powder coating, patented 2 layer, 1 bake anti rust treatment, and ZTP surface coating for protection against stone chips and corrosion. Conventional bump rubbers must still be fitted alongside the H.B.S. system to avoid damage.
